Drifting. 2023 expands its exploration of belonging through a new experimental form. This iteration delves into how bodies, movement, and space interconnect to create evocative visual landscapes that resonate with audiences on both conceptual and emotional levels. Incorporating languages from both East and West, alongside familiar traveling sounds from various countries, the piece weaves together intimate soundscapes and lighting to craft a dreamlike environment that evokes a sense of travel and journey through space. Within this fluid space, three performers merge into one entity—a continuous flow of drifting, pausing, and pressing forward through infinite realms. Each element—from set pieces to costumes—carries symbolic weight, transforming into luggage, baggage, or tools that capture fragments of daily life. Through this harmonious blend of individual and collective voices, the piece navigates the delicate balance between personal identity and shared experience.

Drifting.漂浮 unfolds as a dreamlike journey through moments suspended in time and space. Through ethereal movements and shifting landscapes, we witness a young woman's passage from East to West—a voyage that transcends physical boundaries to explore the realm of infinite possibilities. As spoken words interweave with visual poetry, her story crystallizes in six luminous moments, each capturing the delicate balance between two worlds coexisting within a single breath. Like ripples in still water, different narratives emerge and dissolve, revealing the layers of identity, yearning, and silent conversations that exist between cultures. This intimate portrait becomes a meditation on belonging, where past, present, and future blend in a performative dialogue.
Drifting.

Photography as a performative practice
This photographic series reflects my inner emotional landscape and explores my multiple cultural identities. Through visual juxtaposition, the images create a narrative that embodies the complex and often conflicting experiences of growing up as a second-generation immigrant in Australia, distanced from my Taiwanese heritage. In these photographs, I am portrayed as two women dressed in similar colours and silhouettes, yet with distinct differences—a visual metaphor for my dual identity. The work examines the intersection of Eastern values and Western ideologies, revealing how these cultural forces both clash and coexist within me.
